Eye Candy #1 – Grey + Navy Contemporary
“I’m going to surround myself with beautiful things and that will be my life”. I’ve always been totally fascinated by this quote, it’s turning out to be my life’s motto (Starting with some grey blue contemporary #inspooverload!)
Not in a pretentious, materialistic or shallow kinda way. Just because beautiful things just make me happy, Anyone else? It makes my day brighter and it makes my life happier, because don’t we all want a little more of that?? And that’s totally okay!
Surround yourself with beautiful things….Just because!
From a beautiful misty morning view, to lighting candles in the candelabra, just because it’s Sunday. My favourite people belly laughing over a glass of wine, or scoffing breathtaking boxes of Laduree macarons. Grasscloth wallpaper and beautifully laid herringbone floors. Afternoons of Cluedo and cuddles with my favourite little people. A cup of dammann green tea in beautiful Fortnum and Mason china. Intricate plaster cornice and Farrow & Ball Elephants Breath walls. Freshly baked croissants, #Upgrade eating them whilst strolling along a beautiful treelined avenue on a deserted Sunday morning in Paris.
Well, that’s my happy. It excites me, and it makes my heart beat a little faster, and well isn’t that what we all crave?
My loves probably won’t be your loves, but hopefully you’ll be able to fill in your own blanks…. I’m not here to judge, I’m here to support you, even if you’re a marmite fan. Don’t you think there is far too much judgement around? #JudgementFree. Let me know in the comments what your loves are?
I’ve always found this one of the most puzzling phenomenons, how is it that we get bombarded by designers, magazines and publications telling us what is and isn’t beautiful? Surely that’s our job to decide what beautiful means to us? Who gets to decide what’s beautiful? Who dictates the beauty barometer? When did one persons decision trump yours? It didn’t, ever.
After years of working with DIY home designers, renovators and aspiring professional designers, I’ve been lucky enough to help hundreds create dreamy homes in various HomeEnvy courses and clubs……One thing I can assure you is that beauty is so in the eye of the beholder.
Say hello to #EyeCandy
I thought I would start a regular (ish) segment, where we get to swoon over beautiful inspiration, talk about what’s going on and celebrate beautiful interiors. Firstly, because it’s so much fun and secondly, if I talk in visuals, I know it’s a language you’ll understand too, no words needed.
Some you’ll love and some you’ll loathe, and that’s completely okay. It’s to share an appreciation that we’re all different, we’re all beautiful, you can be uniquely you in this crazy world. #NoJudgement #NoElitism #NoSnobbery. Just be you gorgeous.
So, here’s the first #EyeCandy of the series, this absolutely gorgeous development in London, such a glorious mix of traditional and contemporary. The stunning neutral grey, white, navy and black contemporary home showing us how to boss the whole home colour palette, and use 60/30/10 to create a whole home flow and cohesion. With so much striking contrast needed to lift a neutral scheme (and so many principles and elements of interior design) to the max.
Its packed full of period features and gorgeous bespoke modern finishes. I’ll let the images speak for themselves because, well .#NeutralHeaven
